I am Skyler Mäntysaari. I build and maintain Talos-based Kubernetes clusters managed with Flux, for small teams that need production infrastructure without hiring a platform team. The same stack runs my own clusters — publicly, on GitHub.

What I do

Cluster build-out
Talos Linux on bare metal or Oracle Cloud Ampere, Cilium networking, high-availability or single-node. Immutable machines, rebuilt from config rather than patched by hand.

GitOps with Flux
The cluster reconciles from a Git repository: Kustomize and Helm rendered from source, drift corrected automatically, every change reviewable and revertable.

Secrets and updates
SOPS with age for encrypted secrets in Git, external-secrets where a vault is needed, and Renovate keeping charts and images current without breaking releases.

Monitoring and storage
Prometheus and Grafana with alerts on symptoms rather than noise, plus persistent storage and replication that survives losing a node.

How I work
- Everything in Git
- If it is not committed, it does not exist. Clusters are rebuilt, not repaired.
- Boring on purpose
- Upstream tooling and plain manifests — no in-house abstraction you cannot hire for.
- You keep the keys
- Your repositories, your accounts. Leaving is a handover, not a negotiation.
- One engineer
- A sole partnership: you talk to the person doing the work, in Finnish or English.
